The Long Weekend Travel Journal:
A New Travel Companion
In fall of 2020, Meraki Concept will launch their very own product called, The Long Weekend Travel Journal. It is a travel book, showcasing twenty-four of the most beautiful countries around the world. Each chapter contains curated information, stories and imagery to provide an informative and more so inspirational glimpse into its featured destinations. The Long Weekend is also a journal, as you will find empty pages after each chapter. It is therefore an interactive piece – a living, breathing organism that you can fill with your own personal words, memories and photographs, making every copy ever bought a unique and singular work of art.
In essence, journaling is a written record of our thoughts, feelings and actions, complemented by imagery, often very creative and artistic in nature. People around the world have discovered the joy of the analog world, especially in the face of today’s technology. We are now blasted with instant information and have the possibility to capture almost every moment of our lives. But how often do we look at old photos on our phones and how much do we really remember from our travels? Through journaling, we create a physical representation of a memory, one that can be revisited in the years to come and that can be shared with others in a meaningful way.
The Long Weekend is not meant to be seen as a classical travel guide but rather, as a travel companion. It features a mix of practical and general information, as well as stories, insights and imagery that provide a unique and deeper perspective of a country’s people, places and history. Extensive research has gone into the creation of this book with the goal of providing a multi-dimensional portrait of each destination. The goal was not to bombard the reader with information that they could easily find themselves but to provide insight, emotion and understanding. Readers are prompted to make their own itineraries, as this book does not provide a step-by-step program, as every traveler has different interests and the book is meant to provide inspiration to do so.
